Sound Bites: Celebrity Chefs

MOSY is honored to be working with these celebrity chefs from 44 Canteen and 44 Tavern for our premier fundraising event, Sound Bites: When Jazz Meets Baroque.

Chefs Mark and Levi are crafting a spectacular menu inspired by the time periods when both jazz and baroque music were born. Each course will be infused with culinary creations featuring historical flavors and modern techniques. Courses will perfectly pair with the unique musical performance planned for the event. Chef Mark Sulltrop

Mark Sulltrop has provided Mid-Missouri with quality-based and innovative to traditional and contemporary American Cuisine for over thirty years, drawing from his diverse experience.
Mark has varied experience working to execute various food service opperations and catered events; it affords him the knowledge of the ingredients and tastes of the region. He has worked at a pizza place, sports Bars, hotels, independent full-service restaurants, a private club, a winery, and a bakery-café.
Mark currently owns and operates 44 Canteen and is a Managing Partner of 44 Tavern. He opened 44 Stone Public House with Dave Faron in 2011, identifying itself as Columbia’s First ‘Gastropub’ featuring contemporary American food and drink preparations inspired by those traditionally found in the United Kingdom. ‘44 Stone’ operated until Summer of 2023.
Mark and Dave opened 44 Canteen four years later in 2015, featuring Casual Food, Craft Beers & Cocktails in downtown Columbia. Taking inspiration from items featured by ‘Street Food’ vendors.
Mark took on the roles of Executive Chef & Managing Partner of 44 Tavern which opened in the Summer of 2023. Located in the expanded Midway Golf & Games Complex, 44 Tavern offers a variety of unique cocktails, craft & domestic beers and food offerings inspired by 44 Stone and 44 Canteen in a fun & relaxed setting.
In 2017 Mark purchased Dave’s interest in 44 Stone LLC. With the assistance of a team of dedicated Managers, he leads culinary and service teams with and emphasis on positive attitude, good culinary principles, quality-driven food production and creative collaboration. Mark’s extensive experience in the food service industry has afforded him the opportunity to create unique dishes and provide guests with memorable experiences.

Chef Levi Grantham

Levi Grantham has worked in local area restaurants for nearly twenty years now. He Began his culinary career working part time at a local bar & restaurant while attending Mizzou.
Levi was hired by Mark Sulltrop in 2008 at another local establishment, where Levi continued to work until joining the team at 44 Stone in 2012. He earned the title of Executive Chef at 44 Stone Public House in 2017 and served in that role until its closure in 2023.
Levi is currently working beside Mark as Executive Sous Chef at 44 Tavern.
