2022 Conservatory Apprenticeship Program (CAP)

The Missouri Symphony Conservatory invites you to be a part of our Apprenticeship Program. This exciting program gives Conservatory students an opportunity to play in performances along with the professional musicians.
Applications due March 1, 2022.
ELIGIBILITY
HOW TO APPLY
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
1) Must be in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade starting in the Fall of 2022.

2) Must play in the Missouri Youth Symphony for the full
2022-2023 season.

3) Must participate in school band or orchestra (if applicable).

4) Must be from the mid-Missouri area.

5) Must be available for the entirety of the MOSY Summer Music Festival (June 12-July 16, 2022).
1) Fill out the online Application Form.

2) Submit a 1-2 page essay on how the program can help reach goals.

3) Audition (see below).

4) Interview with MOSY's Director of Education and Outreach and two outside panelists.
1) One solo piece (performed without piano accompaniment). 

2) Two contrasting orchestral excerpts.

Auditions and interviews will be held January 9.

   Benefits of the CAP program:

• Be assigned a mentor within the symphony who plays the same or a similar instrument

• Sit in rehearsals with mentor and play with the Missouri Symphony

• Rehearse and perform in a chamber group with other mentors and/or apprentices

• Perform in other programs and outreach events throughout the year as a CAP student

• Receive a full scholarship to the Missouri Symphony Conservatory for the 2022-2023 school year

2022 Young Artist Concerto Competition

Enter the Competition
Entries due March 1, 2022.
REQUIREMENTS
TO ENTER
FINALS
1) Open to all instruments (except piano).

2) All contestants must be between ages 18 and 22 years of age as of April 9, 2022.

3) All contestants must be a resident of Missouri or enrolled in a Missouri college or university.
1) Please submit a video recording of 1 to 2 movements of any piece for solo instrument and orchestra (with piano accompaniment).

2) Recordings should be no longer than 20 minutes.
1) Finalists must perform at least one movement of the piece they submitted. Performances may not last more than 20 minutes.

2) Finalists must provide their own pianist. The Missouri Symphony can provide a list of local pianists but their availability is not guaranteed.

3) The winner must be able to perform with the Missouri Symphony on Saturday, July 9 at 7 PM at the Missouri Theater during our Summer Music Festival. Individuals unable to meet this requirement will be ineligible to receive the award.
