The Firefly Music Festival is The Missouri Symphony’s signature summer series: a gathering place where orchestral mastery meets the spirit of Mid-Missouri. Each June and July, Firefly brings musicians from across the country into residence alongside our local artists, transforming Columbia, Missouri into a vibrant hub of performance, collaboration, and discovery.

Firefly is designed with intention. Mainstage concerts present masterworks and bold programming that bridge eras and styles, while the Chamber Series offers intimate, close-range performances where audiences experience music in its most immediate form. Conversations with artists, post-concert receptions, and thoughtfully curated programs create space not only to listen, but to connect.

At its core, Firefly reflects The Missouri Symphony’s mission: enriching our community through professional performances and diverse musical experiences. The festival deepens artistic partnerships, expands access to world-class musicianship, and invites new audiences into the shared experience of live music.

Firefly is a seasonal ritual, a place where the scale of symphonic repertoire meets the closeness of chamber music, where tradition and innovation coexist, and where summer in Mid-Missouri finds its soundtrack.

Firefly marks the evolution of our summer festival — a season shaped by light, clarity, and artistic focus. Now entering its fourth year, Firefly reflects a refined approach to programming and atmosphere: intimate chamber evenings, expansive orchestral statements, and music that glows long after the final note.

How the Light Took Shape

Since launching Hot Summer Nights in 2004, The Missouri Symphony has welcomed distinguished musicians and guest artists from across the country and around the world for a season defined by artistry and exchange. In 2022, during our Summer of Conductors, we began imagining what the next chapter of our summer identity could become. When asked what made Missouri feel singular — even luminous — our visiting artists spoke of one quiet, unforgettable detail: fireflies.

    For audiences who want both symphonic scale and chamber intimacy throughout the festival.

    • Reserved seating in your tier for all Masterworks concerts (Epic Horizons, Fiery Legacies, Romantic Echoes)

PURCHASE A FESTIVAL PASS

  • Ticketing Information

    Festival Passes are available now through May 1st and in limited quantities.

    All passes are subject to ticketing platform fees, including:

    • A fixed per-ticket platform fee

    • A percentage-based credit card processing fee applied at checkout

    Purchasing a Festival Pass secures your seat for the full Firefly season while offering savings and guaranteed access to high-demand performances.

  • All tickets are non-refundable. All sales are final. Performances, schedules, programs, and artists are subject to change. You may exchange your tickets for another performance within the current season (subject to availability). Ticket exchange requests must be made at least 48 hours before the performance. We cannot handle exchanges involving tickets for past concerts or on concert evenings.

    There is no charge for ticket exchanges to MOSY Serenade-level donors and above. There will be a $5.00 exchange fee for all others, including single-ticket buyers. You will be charged the price difference if any exchange results in a seat of greater value. Refunds are not available for exchanges to seats of lesser value.

    Can’t use or exchange your ticket? Donate the ticket before the performance! Your seats will be released, and a tax donation receipt will be mailed when donated tickets are received before a concert. Donation requests may be submitted up to 3 hours before the ticketed performance. Once you donate a ticket, your donation is final, and the ticket is immediately made available for resale.

    There are no refunds for unused tickets.

    If a concert is canceled, postponed, or rescheduled, MOSY staff will contact ticket holders as soon as possible with the options available.

    Please note that ticket service fees cover the cost of selling a ticket and are non-refundable in any situation.

  • The fees associated with ticket sales are a fixed $2.50 fee per event ticket by the ticket sales platform, and a variable 4% credit card processing fee.
