Our Home, Our History

Stop by the State Historical Society of Missouri's Center for Missouri Studies during the 2022 Holiday Home Tour!

Designed by Kansas City architectural firm Gould Evans, the Center for Missouri Studies is an award-winning, state-of-the-art facility that provides lasting preservation for Missouri history and culture statewide. This gold-level LEED building features Missouri materials-including limestone from Ste. Genevieve and white oak from Poplar Bluff while connecting the MU campus and downtown Columbia communities.

During your visit:
• Explore the FREE art gallery, which showcases the iconic works of George Caleb Bingham, Thomas Hart Benton, and other notable Missouri artists.
• Browse a curated selection of Missouri-themed gifts and books in the Richard Bookstore.
• Enjoy SHSMO's holiday pop-up event on Saturday, December 3.
• Visit the research center, which connects students, researchers, patrons, and genealogists with manuscript, photograph, newspaper, and map collections.
