About the Home
The Bristol Lake Home of Mr. and Mrs. Mershon was the first home built in the new Bristol Lake subdivision developed by Mr. Elvin Sapp. Created by designer Shannon Sapp of Horizon Builders, this home was featured as magazine Inside Columbia's "Inspiration Home of 2006" and purchased by the current owners in 2019. Over 40 vendors and other businesses contributed to making this house, in a word, "incredible!"
The home is located in a cul-de-sac with view of a creek and woods behind the home, which was just one aspect of the home that appealed to the Mershons. The stonework at the front exterior, the great two-story entryway, and the old-world chandelier featured in both the foyer and dining room added a warmth and richness to the home the Mershons could feel immediately.
Throughout the main floor of the house, a beautiful hickory plank floor runs with a deep walnut stain and serves at the foundation from which decoration would make the outstanding house into a beautiful home. Large windows, built-in bookcases, and gorgeous fireplaces give visitors a sense of cozy formality while keeping a comfortable ease as one moves from space to space.
The spacious opening of the breakfast room and kitchen give rise to ample cabinetry and dining space for entertaining family and friends with outstanding views of the luscious outdoors found behind the residence.
Heading up the stairs one can spacious bedrooms and a master bedroom featuring a sitting area with a view of the nature behind the home. Downstairs unfolds into an ideal family room and entertainment environment that includes a wet bar with a hand-hammered copper sink, and two large areas with a fireplace in one and a pool table and games in the other. Following adjacent to the entertainment space is another room with cork flooring the family uses as their fitness room.
Along with the addition of an outdoor extended patio that connects all areas of exterior living space and upstairs deck, there is a stunning wood-burning fireplace for outdoor entertaining that visitors can experience the tranquility of the Bristol Lake view tis home provides.
As homeowner Karen Mershon would say, "throughout the home there are blessings with plenty of family stories" that visitors can tap into while traveling through time down both sides of the Mershon-Collins family tree. The Mershons know their home as a place of living, entertaining, nurturing, laughing, reflection, and healthy, hearty engagement - especially during the holiday season!
The Mershons welcome you with warmth and hope you enjoy seeing the space they call home.
