“It was in 1991, having just retired and moved ‘back to my roots’ in Columbia, that I was invited by a friend and former colleague to attend a performance by the Missouri Symphony Orchestra at the Missouri Theatre.  It was such a wonderful evening and you might say that I was ‘hooked.’ Since then, it has been my great privilege to serve on the Symphony Society board for 22 years and to be involved in the restoration of the Missouri Theatre.  Each season seems to surpass previous seasons but what has excited me most has been the development of the programs for young artists.  This young, talented group provide a ray of hope for the future. My wish is that others will join me in support of the Missouri Symphony Society and the many programs they offer, assuring continued success of the orchestra and youth programs.”   – Dave Phillipe
